This lot is an 1903 Original Hardback Wisden, in Excellent Condition.

The 8th Wisden Hardback.

The 1903 Hardback had a fault when produced and that was that Wisden didn't put any hinge strengtheners inside , hence 95% of 1903s have broken or restored hinges, it is very hard to find one with original hinges that are strong. This one has original unrestored hinges and both keep the boards off the desk, there is a small amount of mesh showing but they are strong , a very rare thing to see. 

The lettering (gilt) is bright and strong to the front and the spine and is 100% original. The boards are good, there are a couple of marks but overall the boards are very good. Internally lovely and clean with an excellent photoplate I woned this book for quite a few years, it took me about 7 years to find a second 1903 with original strong hinges , but I did and that one has no marks to the board so i swapped it over, something i don't do too often these days. ie improve my collection. Most collectors won't have a 1903 as good as this one for sale even with the couple of marks and small mesh showing. It is also a rare year.
