For sale is is either the second or third rarest Wisden, debate between 1864 & 1869 for second place depends on who you ask (and who has one for sale!) but the 1869 is easily the third hardest Wisden to find so I am delighted to offer up this Original, rebound 1869 without covers, in very good condition.

The condition of the book is amazing, the pages are nearly as white as today (see the comparison with the 2008 on the last photograph) , there is minimal foxing (if any) but not only that the book is crease free, looks barely read and a delight on the eye as the pages are very well presented, the only thing stopping this being a 10 is that there is some trimming to the book, easily clearing the text but worth a mention, the binding is professional and in green leather(?) boards with WISDEN 6 EDN 1869 to the spine in gold and tightly bound. I have been proud to own this Wisden for a few years now, but have recently upgraded to an original paperback.

A beautiful book, it is tiny though, only 120 pages, Wisden didn't have too much to say then.

Regarding price, I found its replacement (a paperback) for just over £16,000 in an Australian auction, I have not see a rebind without covers advertised for a long time, but one with covers had a Wisden Dealer catalogue price of £25,000, so a saving of £13,000 for the covers hence I think it is a fair price.
