Wisden Year: 1951
Rebound With?: Covers

This was sold to me as a 'magnificent 1951 original hardback' or words to that effect, almost a year ago.  However, a not too close inspection shows that original yellow linen covers are peeling off the inside of the brown boards.   In addition, the first and last few pages have the central seams more akin to a rebind than a HB.   Finally, the direction of the gilt on the spine is unusual or maybe not seen in the Fifties?

At the time, I gave the seller the benefit of the doubt, and it was only later when evidence of his other dodgy deals came to light that I realised that I had been deliberately ripped off.

Anyway, I've not attempted to repaste the covers but the buyer, should there be one, would have a complete 1951 Wisden.  To be fair, internally the book is in good nick with no marks or annotations as far as I can see, but there is a stain, albeit a faint one, on the back cover.

Q: Hi, can I ask who the original seller was? Purely out of interest of course!  posted by: 1863 Original  23/10/2008 19:17:45
A: Mmm... well this may help: "Alas, how chang'd! what sudden horrors rise! A naked lover bound and bleeding lies!"
