Hi,
Welcome to Wisden of the Week, 2 years ago this week the contract was signed for the WisdenAuction Software, so why not celebrate it with this our 14th Wisden of the Week - this Ultra Rare World War One Hardback:
1917 Original Hardback Wisden
This copy is in very good condition and is a very very difficult year to find, especially in hardback ,
This copy has super gilt to spine and front cover, and the internal hinges are excellent, there are a few things to note which have also been photographed. As this book is an expensive item, I may be more pedantic than normal but there is slight wear to the left of the front board and some areas of the spine, the main thing to note is the right hand paste down has been rubbed and the page block to top and bottom there is a worn reference stamp impression, which may explain the imperfections, which are light.
Please see the photographs, internally the book is excellent and for a penny , you cant go wrong!!
No reserve and a penny start, the Wisden of the Week promise.
Payment: Cheque Please.
Postage: £8 , Special Delivery , Privately insured.
If you would like to sell a book in our Wisden of the Week slot please contact us, as long a sit is 1p start without reserve and the books is of good+ condition worth over £50, you will receive a free home page entry (usually £5) and advertising on the weekly newsletter, so it will have excellent exposure.
Happy Bidding on the Wo
Cheers
Chris
Q: | gilt looks too good to be true for a volume of this age.Has regilding/touching up been done? posted by: mgashton 25/06/2010 09:52:14 |
A: | Hiya, thanks for the note. 1917 to 1919 brush up pretty well on the gilt front, take alook at my copies - http://www.wisdens.org/1910%20-%201919%20Wisden.htm - but 1916 does have issues with the saying, "if the spine gilt is good, it is not real!" - so to answer your question and when comparing it to my 1936 which has fake gilt to the spine, it is very good and original. If you win and disagree you are entitled to send it back but I promise you the gilt is super & original. Cheers, Chris |
