Hi, Here we have a 1912 Original Hardback Wisden, which is in great shape but has a sad tale to tell.
Book Description: 49th Edition, Excellent original front & spine gilt. Very nice boards with one or two light marks. Very tight hinges and very clean pages. Excellent photo-plate & tissue paper. The only think to note is the Inscription ‘Wishing Daddy…’ on page "1" (a page that is usually blank, please see the photo, top right). Very minor bending of front board corners. The Latin in the note translates to "It is sweet and right to die for your country, the end crowns the work". I am guessing that this is a fathers note to his dead son 4 years after he bought him this gift? Very sad. A big thank you to Dom for the translation.
Happy Collecting,
Cheers
Chris
