Wisden 1964 Hardback edition.

Reasonable hardback edition, probably a 7/10.  The gilt lettering is good but has started to fade, all perfectly legible and still faintly shiny.  The book is nice generally, clean inside and no major faults.  The hinges are lovely and strong.  There is some old damp damage, faint watermarks encroach a millimetre or so from the top, and about 5mm or from the top of the photopages.  All fairly minor - they are so faint no photographs would show them properly, but no text or image is affected so it will surely not ruin enjoyment of the book.

If you collect reasonable hardback editions but aren't after perfection, this is for you!  At £27.99, this 1964 hardback is priced VERY favourably in the hope of a quick sale.  You could expect to pay £40-50 in a bookshop for a good copy in this condition.  In actual fact, this copy has better spine gilt than another listing on this very same site, which is priced at £41.

For those cricket fans amongst us, 1964 is one of my favourite editions.  Sir Jack Hobbs and Sir Pelham Warner sadly passed away in 1963, and both are given comprehensive obituaries full of fascinating details.  The West Indies toured England and walloped us comprehensively to win the inaugural Wisden Trophy.  Garry Sobers (not then a Sir) was a deserved Cricketer of the Year.  There is an intriguing photograph of a Lord's match with a fourth stump, proving that unworkable crackpot ideas from M.C.C. aren't just confined to modern times, pink balls, and county matches in faraway countries.

Any other questions, please do ask.  Other Wisdens for sale too - have a look!
